Job Description

The Student Office Worker position for the Undergraduate Program Office in the School of Business will be responsible for working with the administration, staff and faculty on a variety of support tasks for the Program and School including: declaration of major support, course and event support, research assistance, and office logistics

Required Qualifications

Detailed summary of the key functional areas of this position:

1. Candidate will provide front-office support for the Undergraduate Program Office and occasionally provide backup for the MBA desk. They will manage current and prospective student inquiries, faculty course support requests (e.g. photocopying), School of Business mail distribution, on-campus errands, and student records maintenance. Candidate will be one of the first contacts in the office to welcome students and provide general advising on the curriculum of all four business majors, the core foundations and proficiencies for the college. Due to working with students, staff and faculty, the candidate must handle confidential information with tact, discretion and in compliance with FERPA regulations.

2. Candidate will assist School of Business staff and faculty when necessary on administrative tasks related to strategic priorities. These projects may include support for data mining and analysis, course materials collection and auditing, faculty search support assistance, database organization and maintenance, and administrative support for the School’s various strategic centers and programs for academic excellence.

3. Position will be 10-15 hours per week. Student will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at an hourly rate determined by the Financial Aid Office. Position is part-time, academic year that will start one week before the September start of classes. Candidate may be eligible for summer work.

4. Candidate must be self-starter, reliable, organized, assertive and able to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Punctuality and attention to detail is a must.

5. This is a one year position, with the possibility of a second year based on job performance. Candidate may need to re-apply for a second year.

Additional responsibilities: There will be times when support may be needed for events. Flexibility for coverage of evening or weekend events is required. The weekly hours will be adjusted accordingly.

Essential Duties:

1. Photocopying, email creation, mail merges, faxing and scanning. Some standing and lifting may be required.

2. Answer phones, inquiries and directing the calls if needed to an appropriate party.

3. Provide front-office support for the Undergraduate Program Office. Manage current and prospective student inquiries, faculty course support requests (e.g. photocopying), School of Business mail distribution, on-campus errands, and student records maintenance.

4. Other support as needed to keep the office running efficiently.
