Job Description

The Department of Accountancy in the School of Business at Providence College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty at the assistant professor rank commencing August 2018.

Essential Duties

As our student body grows increasingly diverse, experience and commitment to teaching and mentoring students from a range of economic, social, and cultural backgrounds is preferred.

Candidates will initially be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, with the possibility of teaching at the MBA level in the future. Teaching experience in financial and/or managerial accounting courses is preferred. However, candidates with other teaching specialties will also be considered. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate for this position will be committed to high quality teaching, student advising, research, and service. A successful candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly research in his/her area of concentration consistent with the standards of AACSB, and engage in service activities for the School and the College.

Education and Experience Required

Candidates for this position will be required to have a Ph.D. in accounting, preferably completed by August 31, 2018, and must demonstrate promise of high quality future scholarly activity, excellence in teaching, and willingness to engage in interaction with faculty colleagues, students, and external constituents.

Instructions to candidates

This position will remain open until filled. The Accountancy Department Search Committee will invite selected candidates for an initial interview at the AAA Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, August 6-9, 2017. Applicants who wish to be considered for an interview at the AAA Annual Meeting must apply online by July 31, 2017.
